Dr. Karl Schwarz received his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology-chemistry from Skidmore College. He went on to complete a Masters in physiology and biophysics at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He graduated from The George Washington University School of Medicine with honors, receiving his M.D. His 6 years of training in plastic surgery were completed at Georgetown University Hospital, one of North America’s most respected training programs. During this time, he published research papers and textbook chapters on breast reconstruction.
In 2007, he joined the plastic surgery faculty at McGill University, where he teaches and performs a wide variety of reconstructive procedures to treat accident victims, people with birth deformities, and cancer patients. His sub-specialty and passion remain microsurgical breast cancer reconstruction (performing DIEP flaps) and aesthetic surgery of the breast, face, and body. He is a board-certified fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
