Dr. James Sloan graduated from Dalhousie Medical School in 1973. He spent the following two years as a general practitioner in Maine, U.S.A., and an emergency room physician in Lachute, Quebec. After completing one year of training in Internal Medicine, he entered his residency in Anesthesia at McGill University, which he completed in 1981.
Dr. Sloan is presently a board-certified, senior Anesthetist at the Royal Victoria Hospital, one of McGill University’s main teaching hospitals. Throughout his career, he has been active in the education of medical students and residents, both in and out the operating room. He is currently the director of the pain clinic at the RVH and maintains a strong commitment to providing anesthesia for the most complex of cases in the hospital setting.
Dr. Sloan has been associated with the Centre de Chirurgie Plastique et Esthetique de Montreal since its inception in 1985. He has enormous experience providing outpatient anesthesia as well as pain control. His calm, thoughtful, and focused demeanor allows him to provide excellent patient care with boundless energy. Dr. Sloan’s ability to keep every patient safe and comfortable is unmatched.
